Police in Sheema District have launched investigations and a search for four robbers who attacked and stole money and items from residents.

The incident occurred on December 3, 2024, at 10:00 PM in Kimondo 1 Cell, Marembo Ward, Kitagata Town Council, Sheema District.

Marcial Tumusiime, the Greater Bushenyi Police Spokesperson, confirmed the incident and identified the victims as Julian Turyahabwe, 46, a businesswoman from the same address, along with Syson Twijukye Kihosho, 37, and Gerald Twinamatsiko, 35, all residents of Kitagata Town Council.

It is reported that on the night of the incident, the victims were in Turyahabwe’s shop and bar when four men armed with pangas (machetes) stormed in. Without uttering a word, the assailants began assaulting the victims.

According to Turyahabwe, who later reported the case to police, one of the robbers went behind the counter and stole UGX 115,000 and bottles of coffee spirits valued at UGX 20,000. During the attack, the victims raised an alarm.

In response to the commotion, Turyahabwe’s son, who was asleep in the boys’ quarters, came out with a spade and struck one of the assailants on the face, causing him to bleed. The injured robber and his accomplices then fled the scene.

Police investigations are ongoing as efforts to apprehend the culprits continue.
