Mitooma District Education Officer, Peace Barungi Gloria, has urged civil servants in the district to prioritize planning for their retirement while still in service by focusing on their families and personal development.

Barungi made this call during the farewell function for the District Senior Education Officer, Jacos Ndyabahika, who has served both Bushenyi and Mitooma districts for a total of 42 years. The event was held at Peak Hotel in Mitooma District.

She highlighted the difficulties many civil servants face after retirement due to inadequate planning, which often leaves them without the necessary resources and support. Barungi emphasized the need for a change in mindset, encouraging civil servants to prioritize their families’ development and their children’s education as a way to build a secure future.

Representing the Chief Administrative Officer, Evans Twinamatsiko, the Mitooma District Principal Assistant Secretary, advised workers to adopt a strong work ethic, which would help them earn promotions and advance in their careers.

In his remarks, Jacos Ndyabahika, the retiring Senior Education Officer, reflected on his 42 years of service in the education sector. He shared the wealth of experience he has gained and encouraged the younger generation to seek his guidance. Ndyabahika expressed gratitude to the district team for their support throughout his career.
