The Secretariat of the Parish Development Model has decided to postpone the launch of the Parish Development Model funds in Kabale due to identified gaps in preparedness.
Hon. Jovurine Kyomukama Kaliisa, the Deputy National Coordinator for the Parish Development Model, stated that the secretariat had initially planned to launch the funds on Monday of next week.
However, after discovering significant gaps in public awareness and sensitization efforts, they decided to suspend the launch.
The missing gaps in the implementation of the Parish Development Model were uncovered by Kyomukama during a meeting with stakeholders, parish chiefs, and town agents at Rukiiko Hall in Kabale Municipality on Friday.
She emphasized that the program will not be launched until the secretariat ensures that the public has received proper training and that the beneficiaries are equipped to make effective use of the allocated funds.
Kyomukama further pointed out that the suspension of the Parish Development Model launch has left Kabale district facing a considerable amount of money that remains unused on the parish accounts.
According to Ronald Bakak, the Deputy Resident Commissioner of Kabale, the district currently has 79 Parish Development Model Saccos, with each Sacco holding 107 million shillings.
