KYABUREERE, BUGANGARI

Parents and Local leaders from Kibiziro cell, Kyabureere Parish, Bugangari Sub County, Rukungiri District on Sunday demonstrated and closed Kyabureere Primary School over delapidated classrooms.
Kyabureere Primary School is a government-aided school which started in the area as a Church School in 1995 and became a government-aided school in 2009.
Parents and concerned local leaders invited their Headteacher to express concern about the lives of the children at school citing the sorry state of the structures.

They resolved close the school and send their children to other schools.
The Chairperson of the School Management Committee Tumuhaise Ambrose says they approached all the responsible offices asking for help but all was in vain.

He condemns area Members of Parliament for failing to lobby for the renovation of the school.

The Catechist atKyabureere catholic church, the founding body Kobusheshe Deudant says the state of the school’s is worrying and parents, can’t allow their pupils to study from dilapidated structures.

The Area LC1 chairperson Kibiziro cell Kobusingye Fausta says the government neglected them.

The School Headteacher Byarugaba Banizi Ngoboka says he is also not sure about how he will receive pupils when they don’t have classrooms.

The Bugangari LC3 Chairperson Byamukama Juston expressed dismay saying that the alternative Schools are a long distance away and appealed to the parents to remain patient because the government is planning for them though this may take some time.

When contacted, Steven Nsubuga Bewayo the Rukungiri Resident District Commissioner said that it’s up to the parents to either destroy or build their School.

He called upon the school administrators to follow up on the matter and find a lasting solution.

Efforts to reach the District Education Officer (DEO) were futile by press time.
