Over Ushs 340 million was realized on Saturday during the launch of the Archdiocese of Mbarara Development Foundation (AMDEF) in Ntungamo District.

A total of Ushs 344 million was raised in cash and pledges, with Ushs 300 million contributed in cash.

The function, held at Sacred Heart Ntungamo Town Catholic Parish and presided over by the Mbarara Archbishop, His Grace Lambert Beinomugisha, brought together 10 parishes in Ntungamo District. The event attracted various dignitaries, including politicians, businesspeople, civil servants, and local residents, who all contributed to the foundation.

Archbishop Beinomugisha thanked the Catholic faithful for mobilizing support for the strong foundation, which he said would help spur development not only within the Church but across the wider community. He highlighted the foundation’s potential to support education, health, nutrition, infrastructure, and leadership.

Rushenyi County MP, Hon. Naome Kabasharira, commended the initiative, stating that the development of the Catholic Archdiocese Foundation reflected great leadership that politicians should emulate if they want to see their regions thrive.

Dr. Silver Mugisha, the National Water and Sewerage Corporation CEO and the Archdiocese Head of Laity, praised the generosity of the laity, noting that such commitment would lead to meaningful and sustainable development. He also thanked the Archbishop for his visionary leadership.
