Police in Rukungiri are hunting for suspects who allegedly murdered a 60 years old Joseph Bashobeirwe a resident of Kakatenga cell Kihanga Parish Buhunga sub-county in Rukungiri district.
According to ASP Elly Maate the Kigezi region police spokesperson, the deceased left his home on 16/04/2023 at around 10:00 AM,
He was heading to his gardens in the hills of Kakatenga village.
Maate explains that at around 15:00hrs in the afternoon one Maurice Kyomugisha who was at her home located opposite the hills, heard the deceased making an alarm that he was being murdered.
She responded by making an alarm to mobilize locals for the rescue of the deceased.
The locals found that Bashobeirwe had already been killed and the assailant had already taken off.
Maate says the case was reported at Buhunga police station by the sub-county Giso one Stella Kamusiime, the crime scene was visited and documented, an exhibit of a panga was recovered and the body was conveyed to Rwakabengo Health Center III mortuary for postmortem.
Maate says the Suspects are still at large and appealed to anyone who may be having clues that can lead police to the assailants to volunteer it so that perpetrators are brought to book.
