Old students of Kinkizi High School Nyakatare have launched the “Buying Cement Initiative,” aimed at improving the school’s infrastructure.
The initiative was launched today, 9th March 2025, at the school premises during a “homecoming” function organized by the Old Students Association, Strong Together, held in Kanungu Town Council, Kanungu District.
The project was officially launched with over 150 bags of cement as a startup.
Namara Kichoncho, the founding chairperson of the Old Students Association Strong Together, while speaking to the students and the entire school fraternity, stated that they decided to start the project to renovate and expand infrastructure at the school.
Mr. Ezra Namara, the association’s patron who also doubles as a teacher at Kinkizi High School Nyakatare, said that the main objective of the association is to bridge the gap between the old students and the current students while contributing to the school’s development. He encouraged the current students to always have goals and visions that will lead them to academic excellence.
Pretty Owembabazi, the school’s speaker, commended the old students for always remembering their school and encouraged them to continue with the spirit of love and support.
Reverend Emmanuel Mutabazi, the headteacher of Kinkizi High School Nyakatare, appreciated the old students for returning to the school that shaped them. He highlighted some of the school’s achievements, including the construction of a girls’ dormitory, eight new bathrooms, a completed three-classroom block, two new pit latrines, the revival of the school farm, and the rehabilitation of drilled water sources, among others.
The chairperson of the Board of Governors, Mr. Bakiga Godwilly, who was present at the function, also commended the old students for always returning to where their journey began, emphasizing the importance of membership. He noted that this initiative promotes networking between old and current students. He further advised the current students to always pray, work hard, and maintain discipline in order to achieve academic excellence.
