In a generous effort to rehabilitate their alma mater, former students of San Giovanni School in Makiro have donated 150 bags of cement valued at 5 million UGX. The donation is part of a broader initiative to revitalize the school, which was founded by the Catholic Church in 1984 and taken over by the government in 2002.

Denis Tukamushaba, the headteacher of San Giovanni, expressed his gratitude for the support from the alumni. He highlighted the long-standing need for the school’s rehabilitation, which is now being addressed through the contributions of its former students. Tukamushaba also acknowledged the government’s support in establishing an ICT hub at the school, a facility he believes will significantly enhance the school’s standards in artificial intelligence and digital education.

Vian Owamani, one of the key organizers of the alumni initiative, spoke passionately about the values instilled in them during their time at San Giovanni. He noted that the discipline, faith, and knowledge they acquired at the school were crucial to their success, motivating them to give back and mobilize resources for the school’s rehabilitation.

In a touching moment, the joint team of former students shared inspiring testimonies with the current students, who were beginning their holidays. They reminisced about the discipline, courage, endurance, and academic excellence that defined their school days, hoping to instill the same values in the younger generation.

This initiative marks a significant step in the ongoing efforts to improve San Giovanni School, ensuring it remains a beacon of quality education for future generations.
