Local leaders from Nyeibingo Parish in Kebisoni Sub County, Rukungiri District have petitioned district authorities to divide their parish and cells for better service delivery.

Residents have proposed two options for the division: creating Nyeibingo West and Nyeibingo East Parishes, or Nyeibingo and Butinde Parishes.

Mary Turyahikayo, Chairperson LC1 of Butinde, emphasized that her constituents are requesting a division of their cell into two, similar to the way they are organized by the Church.

George Byaruhanga Ruraka, Secretary for Finance of Kebisoni Sub County and NRM Chairperson for Kebisoni Sub County, stated that dividing the cells and parish will not hinder cooperation but will enhance service delivery.

Frank Arinaitwe Mabwa, Sub County Councilor for Nyeibingo Parish and prospective candidate for the Kebisoni Sub County LC3 seat in the upcoming elections urged that the petition be presented to local Members of Parliament to expedite the process. He highlighted that Nyeibingo Parish, with its highest population and nine cells, is particularly disadvantaged in terms of service delivery.

Simon Rubagasira, Chairperson LC1 of Kagyeyo Cell, expressed frustration over the need for a police post in the Dubai Trading Center, citing the cell’s large size and rapidly developing commercial area.
