Residents of Nyanga Parish in Rubaare Sub-county, Ntungamo District, have continued to raise concerns over the poor condition of the Omungyenyi to Ruyonza Road.
This road is a vital route used by many, especially for transporting agricultural products such as matooke and milk to the Omungyenyi market—commodities on which most residents rely for their livelihoods. The continued deterioration of the road has significantly hindered economic development in the area.
God Karuhanga, a boda boda rider and farmer, said they are struggling due to the poor state of the road, which has also put their lives at risk. He noted that the government has been collecting revenue from the agricultural products transported along this route to various markets.
Simeon Kakoona, an elder from Nyanga, described the road as being in an extremely poor state. He emphasized that it connects several important areas and is heavily used by farmers and other community members.
In response, Coleb Tindimwebwa, the LC3 Chairperson of Rubaare Sub-county, assured the residents that the road is already included in the current financial year’s plan and funds have been allocated for its rehabilitation.
