Bridges to Prosperity in partnership with the Ministry of Works and Transport has finally entered a memorandum of understanding with the Rukungiri district leadership to continue constructing the cable bridges in the Nyakyishenyi sub-county.
0n 16 Feb 2022, the Rukungiri resident district commissioner Stephen Nsubunga Bewayo halted the construction of the cable bridges in Nyakyishenyi arguing that the district leaders were not aware of the project.
The signing of this memorandum was led by Rukungiri Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Mr. Nsubuga Bewayo Stephen, acting district engineer Mr. Julius Bagyira and Mukasa Samuel the Uganda Projects Manager of Bridges for Prosperity.
Samuel Mukasa the project manager says Bridges to Prosperity partnered with the Ministry of Works and Transport to construct efficient suspended bridges over impassable rivers in the rural communities and Nyakyishenyi sub-county became one of the beneficiaries.
Mukasa added that the bridge will help to connect people to healthcare centers, education centers, and marketplaces in the communities in addition to employment opportunities.
Stephen Nsubuga Bewayo the RDC Rukungiri district officially allowed them to continue with their work since they have signed the Memorandum of Understanding with the district hence asking local leaders to cooperate with them for quality work.
