110 families that make Bugoro cell, in Rwanyondo Parish,Nyakishenyi sub-county, Rukungiri District are struggling to raise 4.5 million shillings to buy land where to establish a health facility in the area.
Rwanyondo Parish is made up of 5 cells that include Mulago, Kiganda, Rwonyo, Shoga Shoga, Rutooma, and Bugoro which find it hard to access health services.
According to the locals, they trek long distances to seek health services from Nyakisoroza Health Center 3 which has led to loss of lives.
According to the Bugoro Chairperson LC1 Arinaitwe Benia, they launched a campaign to mobilize funds towards the cause where at least 2.2 million shillings out of the required 4.5 has been so far raised.
The Sub County Councilor representing Rwanyondo Parish Mpamire Wilber noted that residents are overwhelmed by malaria outbreaks in dry seasons which residents have suffered for over 13 years without good health care services.
The Nyakishenyi Sub County LC3 chairperson Twinomujuni Wednesday noted that Bugoro cell is located in the hard-to-reach area near river Birara which makes locals vulnerable to waterborne diseases during rainy seasons.
The Rukungiri Chairperson LCV Kyomukama Geoffrey asked leaders to support the cause to fulfill the policy of having a health center in every parish and commended locals for fostering development.
