Thousands of supporters on Sunday gathered at Nyakisoroza playground in Nyakishenyi sub-county Rukungiri district to witness a friendly match between Boona Fc and Nyakishenyi Select FC.
The historical match ended 2:0 in favor of Nyakishenyi Select FC.
The score was opened by Turyasingura Denis and closed by Brian a bother to the former Premier Amaama Mbabazi from Kanungu district who was in the area to attend a memorial and Thanksgiving mass organized by the family of the late Rev. Can. Geresom Ruhindi.
Brian with his good sports background, has played for big teams in Uganda like KCCA, Express FC, and Kigezi province select among others.
The event saw Nyakishenyi Select FC get a double blessing after Bob Rugonde who is aspiring to take on Rubabo county as a member of parliament donated a full set of Jersey and a goat to the team through the sub-county LC3 Chairperson Twinomujuni Wednesday.
Mr. Niwabiine Andrew through Boona fm also pledged to donate 10 select footballs and 10 first class Netballs to the community.
He said that his donation will be delivered in one week and tasked Boona fm to distribute the balls to the listener once received.
The event also saw Boona fm donate a select football to Nyakishenyi Select FC as a token of appreciation for the continued support and cooperation.
The match was part of the activities carried out in preparation for the celebration of Boona fm annual event dubbed “EKIGUTUURO RUHIGURA NKONGI“ slated to take place on 8th July 2023 at Rukungiri main stadium.
