Hon. Minister Jim Muhwezi Katugugu, Member of Parliament for Rujumbura County and Security Minister, has commended Kabale Diocese for its leadership in promoting regional development. He conveyed this message on Saturday, the 9th, during his address at the BAAF final fundraising mass held at Nyakibale Catholic Parish Deanery in Eastern Division, Rukungiri Municipality.
Minister Jim Muhwezi praised Kabale Diocese for establishing commercial infrastructure, high-quality institutions such as schools, and a committed clergy that fosters development. He assured the Diocese of continued government support.
Right Rev. Callist Rubaramira, the Bishop of Kabale Diocese, expressed appreciation to the Christians for their ongoing and successful fundraising efforts. He promised transparency and accountability for the collected funds.
Ernest Katara Ngabirano, the Rubabo County Parliamentary Candidate who officiated at the event, urged the public to support the development of public facilities, emphasizing the importance of ensuring that disadvantaged community members can access essential services.
Hon. Mary Paula Turyahikayo, former Rubabo County Member of Parliament and current Rukungiri District Woman Parliamentary aspirant praised the community for backing BAAF’s initiatives. She highlighted that establishing sources of income for the diocese will promote self-sustainability and reduce dependency on Christian contributions.
Maanige Wenceslas, director of Boona FM and chairperson of the BAAF organizing committee for Rukungiri Deanery, applauded the committee for demonstrating unity and dedication in ensuring the event’s success. He emphasized the need for continued efforts toward sustainability.
In total, 293,800,000 UGX was raised to support the completion of the Diocesan commercial building in Kabale Municipality.
