Nyakibale Deanery, under Kabale Diocese, marked the Solemnity of the Annunciation of the Lord by extending charity to Rukungiri Prisons and Nyakibale Hospital.
The team, led by the Pastoral Coordinator of Kabale Diocese, Rev. Fr. Fidel Ndagijimana, and Rev. Fr. Julius Turyatoranwa, Dean of Nyakyibale Deanery and Parish Priest of Christ the King, paid a pastoral visit to Rukungiri Prisons and Nyakibale Hospital. During the visit, they donated various essential items, including food and other necessities, to prisoners and the sick, offering them support and hope.
In his address, Rev. Fr. Fidel encouraged Christians to remain hopeful and trust in God, emphasizing that only through faith can one find solace and strength. He urged prisoners and all Christians to embrace the cross, as it is through the cross that love and forgiveness are found. He further encouraged them to be faithful and trust in God’s guidance, reassuring them that challenges are overcome when God is at the center of their lives.
Rev. Fr. Fidel highlighted that as Kabale Diocese celebrates the Jubilee Year 2025 under the theme “Pilgrimage of Hope,” they are committed to extending hope to the hopeless through various charitable acts, including the Jubilee Charity initiative, which aims to bring spiritual nourishment to those in need.
Rev. Fr. Balthazar Ndyomugabe, chaplain of Nyakibale Institute of Health Sciences and Nyakibale Hospital, expressed gratitude to the team from Kabale Diocese for their efforts in comforting those who feel hopeless through prayers and generous gifts. He acknowledged that people carry different burdens and challenges, but acts of kindness such as these provide much-needed comfort and encouragement.
He also reminded the patients and attendees that God never forsakes His people and encouraged them to remain hopeful.
Rev. Fr. Julius Turyatoranwa thanked Kabale Diocese for organizing the charity initiative as part of the Jubilee celebrations. He noted that as a district, they had raised five million Ugandan shillings to procure various essential items for those in need. He urged everyone to remain hopeful, emphasizing that God is a rewarder of faithfulness. He also commended the institutions for their dedication to serving the community and their hospitality towards patients.
Agatha Kebirungi, Principal Nursing Officer at Nyakyibale Hospital, expressed gratitude on behalf of the hospital management for the diocese’s charitable visit. She noted with concern that many patients often lack basic necessities such as soap and sugar, which are essential for their well-being. She was pleased that the diocese had provided these much-needed supplies, bringing joy to the patients.
ASP Kilara Ceaser Awany, the OC’s representative, and Steven Rutabajuuka, the head of prisoners, expressed their deep appreciation for the donations and the uplifting messages of hope. They acknowledged the hardships that prisoners face and thanked the team for their generosity and compassion in bringing comfort to those behind bars.
