Coffee farmers from Nyabushozi County in Kiruhura District have returned home with a renewed mindset after a one-day field study tour at Inspire Africa Group Coffee Factory in Rwashameire, Ntungamo District. The farmers, who witnessed firsthand how their coffee is processed into high-quality products, say the experience has motivated them to expand coffee farming and improve marketing strategies.

The tour, organized and funded by Nyabushozi County Member of Parliament Hon. Wilson Kajwengye, aimed to educate farmers on coffee value addition and market opportunities. Hon. Kajwengye urged the growers to focus on increasing production and selling directly to buyers, bypassing middlemen to maintain quality and profitability.

Selected from twelve sub-counties and town councils, the participating farmers will now serve as demonstration farmers, training others in best coffee-growing practices. Kajwengye emphasized the importance of using organic manure from livestock to enrich Nyabushozi’s fertile soils, positioning the region as a leading coffee producer in Uganda.

He also encouraged farmers to embrace coffee as a profitable alternative to relying solely on livestock farming.

Inspire Africa Group Coffee Factory CEO, Dr. Nelson Tugume, pledged support by providing high-quality seedlings and establishing a coffee bulking center in Nyabushozi to ensure consistent quality and quantity.

Dr. Tugume revealed that Uganda’s coffee exports generate over 900 million dollars daily from global demand, highlighting the crop’s economic potential. With these new partnerships, Nyabushozi farmers are set to boost production and establish their own premium coffee brand.
