Science and mathematics teachers in Ntungamo district have undergone a four-day refresher training in interpretation and competence building in the new curriculum with the trainers and teachers appreciating the need to refresh their minds on key issues in the curriculum development.

The training at Kiyoora primary teachers’ College had teachers of chemistry, biology, Physics, Agriculture, and Mathematics from all schools in the district under the SESEMAT with trainers coming from the Ministry of Education.

The SESEMAT district Chairperson, Ntungamo high school head teacher Mr. Wilson Byamukama said the teachers have not been comfortable teaching with the new Curriculum and that new training makes them appreciate the key issues in the implementation.

The principal education officer teacher education Ms Ketra Rugumba who presided over the closure of the training asked teachers to create time for teaching and interacting with students if they want them to appreciate learning in the new curriculum.

Ms Caroline Taliba who headed the training said the training was aimed at making many teachers appreciate the new curriculum and help teachers support students in designing lesson questions in lessons.
