At least 500 kilograms of maize flour and beans delivered to Rushenyi county Ntungamo district as food relief for families affected by hailstorms in March 2023 have reported missing on delivery affecting beneficiaries.

The food meant for four parishes in Rubaare and Rugarama North Sub counties was received from the office of the prime minister following lobbying by the Rushenyi county member of parliament Naome Kabasharira.

Distributing the foodstuff at Rubaare sub-county headquarters today Thursday, the sub-county chief Edidah Kosa said at least 5 bags of Maize flour were not delivered to the sub-county from the district despite being received there.

She however said the beans were all delivered there. Over 600 kg were also missing in the delivery of the Rugarama North sub-county.

According to the letter from the office of the prime minister to the Ntungamo CAO and MP Rushenyi Naome Kabasharira, 30,000 kg of beans were delivered to the district while 12,800 kg of beans were delivered too.

They are for parishes of Kyafoora, Kamahuri, Kagugu, and Omungyenyi parishes in Rushenyi County.

Residents condemned the theft of their food stuffs asking the district officials to investigate the theft.

Ms Kabasharira said she would follow up to know how the food went missing. She however thanked district officials for ensuring proper delivery of the food items.
