The Magistrate’s one magistrate’s Court in Ntungamo has further remanded the Ntungamo district principal veterinary officer Dr Yake Basulira
The veterinary Doctor is accused of Perjury and forgery, offenses he committed while making accountabilities for the execution of animal movement permits during the period when quarantine restrictions had been imposed in the district.
He was first produced to court on Friday following his arrest on Thursday by state house anti-corruption unit officials
Appearing before Ntungamo Grade I magistrate Edgar Kakuru this morning, Dr Yake Basulira denied the charges against him by prosecution and applied for bail, presenting 6 sureties.
However, Mr Kakuru could not immediately grant him bail opting to remand him until February 27, when he will reappear in court for a bail application ruling.
Prosecution presented two counts of Perjury in which Dr Basulirwa is accused of swearing two affidavits before the court that led to the sale of 12 impounded cattle.
He is also charged with forgery of fuel receipts and an account of uttering false documents for accountability for money gotten from the auction of impounded cattle.
