Deputy RDC Atuhaire Rose Mary from Ntungamo has expressed her appreciation for the government’s efforts in involving women in leadership roles, which have contributed to the development of families and the country as a whole. She is now urging women to be responsible leaders, as they have been entrusted with leadership skills in various aspects of life, from the kitchen to decision-making positions.

Deputy RDC Atuhaire has called on leaders to encourage the general public to participate in government programs like PDM, UWEP, Youthlivelihood, and Emyooga. She emphasized the importance of managing these programs effectively and warned against mismanagement, stating that the RDC’s office would take action if necessary.

During the 2024/2025 financial year budget conference held in Ntungamo municipality’s Division Council Hall, Deputy RDC Atuhaire made these remarks.

Additionally, Atuhaire encouraged village chairpersons to hold security meetings and register casual laborers in preparation for end-of-year festivities.

Ntungamo municipality’s mayor, Jacob Kafureeka, appealed to political and civil leaders to engage all stakeholders in the budgeting process as a means of improving service delivery. He emphasized that this approach allows citizens to have a say in decisions affecting their communities and praised the leadership of Western Division for their achievements.

Chairman LCIII of Western Division, Jacob Binyerere, commended the Division council and technical staff for their cooperation in realizing their achievements. He mentioned challenges such as poor road networks due to road fund cuts but encouraged the public to participate in communal work (burungi bwensi) while these issues are addressed.

Semugabi Shem, the senior assistant town clerk of Western Division, highlighted achievements in the year 2023/2024, including revenue collection of over UGX 94 million, and outlined priorities for 2024/2025, which include extending water and electricity services, improving drainage channels, and installing security lights.

Councilor Juliet Mpamize Buriiku of Western Division urged leaders to prioritize these initiatives to enhance service delivery to the community. The budget conference sessions were presided over by councilor Jenifer Sentongo and speaker Cyril Tibagyerwagye, among others.
