Supporters of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) party in Rukungiri District have been urged to protect roads from damage by election protestors.

The call was made today, 8th December 2025, by Lieutenant Colonel Edward Atukunda, the Vice Chairperson and Kigezi Regional NRM Mobilizer for President Museveni in the forthcoming general elections, while addressing the District NRM Secretariat at Riverside Hotel in Eastern Division, Rukungiri Municipality.

Lt. Col. Atukunda implored the mobilization team to strengthen their efforts by exposing the achievements of the NRM, including the precious gains of peace and stability, promotion of education among the youth despite the employment crisis, and the need to defend the existing roads from destruction by election protestors during the exercise.

Meanwhile, the Security Minister and NRM Chairperson for Rukungiri District, Hon. Jim Muhwezi, highlighted concerns over the discrimination of secretariat members who support independent candidates, barring them from overseeing NRM elections by the national leadership.

Moses Twinomugisha Tamale, the NRM Auditor, encouraged secretariat members at all levels, from LC1 to the district, to each mobilize at least three voters in order to help President Museveni surpass the 50 percent mark and avoid a presidential runoff election.

The Rukungiri District Woman Member of Parliament and NRM flag bearer, Hon. Mary Paula Turyahikayo Kebirungi, thanked the people of Rujumbura County for their loyal support during her recently concluded campaign tours. She urged voters to freely receive money from independent candidates but remain loyal to NRM flag bearers when voting, for effective service delivery.

Mathias Mwesigwa Rwabugumi, the Rubabo County NRM flag bearer, also echoed the call on supporters to rally behind NRM flag bearers for improved service delivery.

The Presidential Kigezi Regional Coordinator, Rugaba Akampa Tanibul, together with the District NRM Vice Chairperson, Ambrose Kibuuka, called on supporters to vote President Museveni with a 99% landslide victory to fulfill the region’s expectations.
