Police in Kasese District are holding Morris Kithenge Masereka, the NRM Registrar of Ibanda Kyanya Town Council, for allegedly tampering with official party documents, leading to the disappearance of 15 NRM party registers.

Masereka, 41, was arrested following allegations that he manipulated the register books, causing their loss.

According to Kasese Police spokesperson SP Nelson Tumushime, the arrest was necessary to preserve the integrity of the ongoing NRM party elections and Baraza activities in the region.

“We call upon the public to remain calm and report any threats that could disrupt the party Baraza and the voting process,” said SP Tumushime. He urged residents to work closely with security agencies, including the police, UPDF, and the Office of the RDC, to ensure the electoral process continues smoothly and without interruption.

Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
