The NRM Deputy National Treasurer, Hon. Jacqueline Kyatuheire, has called on NRM leaders in Kisoro District to unite in supporting the party’s candidate for the upcoming by-election, emphasizing that this unity will strengthen the NRM’s presence among local communities.
Her remarks follow a statement by Dr. Philemon Mateke, the NRM chairman for Kisoro District, who clarified that the party currently lacks an official flag bearer for the Kisoro District Woman Member of Parliament by-election.
However, Kisoro District NRM General Secretary Joseph Kanyabugoyi has accused certain party leaders in the district of withholding their support from Hon. Rose Kabagyeni, the NRM’s official candidate for the Woman MP position in the by-election. Kanyabugoyi specifically pointed to Vice Chairperson Ndikuyeze Ramadan and Bukimbiri County MP Eddie Kwizera Wa Gahungu, alleging that they have opposed Kabagyeni since the campaign began, a stance he warned could harm party unity.
While campaigning for Kabagyeni in Bufumbira North County yesterday, Kyatuheire stressed that reconciliation among party members is crucial for strengthening NRM’s organizational structure and ensuring efficient service delivery. She underscored that unified leadership would enable services to reach the grassroots more effectively.
James Karishema, head of NRM field officers, expressed confidence in the party’s chances of winning the by-election. Leaders from Bufumbira North, including Mupaka Town Council Mayor Ndekezi Emmanuel and District Council Secretary for Works Pamela Bihira, voiced their support for the NRM candidate. They highlighted the peace and stability the NRM has brought and encouraged the public to vote for the party.
Meanwhile, NRM flag bearer Kabagyeni urged voters to stand strong with the NRM, promising that the party would drive further development in their communities.
