The leaders of the NRM party in Rubabo County have officially appointed Mwesigwa Mathias Rwabugumi, who currently serves as the district councilor for Nyarushanje sub-county, as the party’s Shadow Member of Parliament (MP) for the constituency.
This decision was made during a meeting held at Garubunda Gardens in Kebisoni sub-county, which brought together NRM party leaders from various parts of the district. The leaders see Mathias as instrumental in mobilizing party members and strengthening the party’s presence in the area.
The Resident District Commissioner of Rukungiri District, Steven Nsubuga Bewayo, emphasized the importance of such meetings in bringing together NRM representatives from different sub-counties in Rubabo.
The aim was to bolster the party’s unity and ensure that representatives are well-informed about the progress of government programs. This knowledge would enable them to effectively communicate the achievements of the NRM to the people in their respective villages.
Geoffrey Kyomukama, the Rukungiri district LC5 chairperson, stressed the need for NRM representatives to provide a comprehensive report on the achievements facilitated by the NRM in Rukungiri district. He urged them to actively engage with government programs and share information with the public, as it is part of their responsibilities.
Mathias Mwesigwa Rwabugumi, the district councilor for Nyarushanje sub-county, expressed his gratitude to all the NRM representatives and district leaders for attending the meeting and showing respect for his invitation. He highlighted the importance of such gatherings in reinvigorating the NRM as a party in Rubabo County.
He also mentioned their intention to fill vacancies left by deceased NRM members and to motivate those who are less active within the party.
Mathias thanked the committee for entrusting him with the role of NRM Shadow MP for Rubabo County and pledged to work diligently for the betterment of both the party and Rubabo as a whole.
Tibesibwa Akim, one of the NRM representatives and the chairperson for people with disabilities in Nyarushanje sub-county, expressed his satisfaction with the choice of Mathias Rwabugumi as the Shadow MP for Rubabo.
As NRM representatives, they plan to convene in their committees to address some of the challenges they currently face.
