The Rt. Rev. Onesimus Asiimwe, Bishop of North Kigezi Diocese, has announced plans to complete the construction of Kinyansano Cathedral Church by next year.
The bishop made these remarks while preaching during a Sunday service at Emmanuel Cathedral, Kinyansano. He noted that he has successfully conducted 84 pastoral visits across the diocese this year.
Rt. Rev. Onesimus Asiimwe emphasized the importance of daily prayer as a powerful tool to defeat the devil and navigate life’s difficulties. He warned against harmful practices, such as burning or beating people in attempts to expel demons, and condemned those who fail to embody revival values through actions like alcoholism and adultery, which he said hinder true repentance.
He also advised married Christians and students to drink clean water to prevent disease, stressing that “water is life.” Furthermore, he encouraged married women to maintain cleanliness and health to remain attractive to their husbands. He condemned men dependent on alcohol, urging them to reform.
Rt. Rev. Onesimus Asiimwe expressed his gratitude to God as he shared the good news of completing Kinyansano Cathedral. He also highlighted plans to renovate and improve enrollment at Makobole High School, Kinyansano Girls’ School, and Kinyansano Primary School. He urged Christians to achieve these goals through prayer and patience.
Amatsiko Niwegariho, the Kinyansano cathedral dean, praised Rt. Rev. Onesimus Asiimwe for being a Christ-like example and for his dedication to spreading revival globally. He noted that the bishop’s leadership has strengthened the connection between the North Kigezi Diocese and the broader Christian community.
On behalf of Emmanuel Cathedral Christians, Abel Matiita, the head of laity, expressed gratitude to the bishop for his visit. He commended the bishop for selecting capable church leaders and overseeing holy confirmations, which he said have contributed to the growth of the church’s membership.
