The newly appointed Resident District Commissioner (RDC) for Ntungamo, Mrs. Miriama Kagaiga Mugisha, has pledged to foster unity and cooperation as she assumes her new role. She officially took office on Friday, succeeding Kanyamahanye, who has been transferred to Kitagwenda District.
Before her appointment, Miriama served as the Deputy RDC for Kalungu District and had also held similar positions in Luwero and Lwengo districts. She expressed gratitude to district officials for the warm welcome and called on politicians who lost in the NRM primaries to support their colleagues, saying it would strengthen togetherness within the party and the community.
She urged the people of Ntungamo to shun politics based on religion and clans, focusing instead on service delivery. Miriama also vowed to strengthen security in the district through improved night patrols in collaboration with the UPDF and Police, and advised the youth to work hard to avoid crime and immoral habits.
Outgoing RDC Kanyamahanye thanked the people of Ntungamo for their cooperation during his tenure, which included four years as Deputy RDC and a year as full RDC. He explained that recent RDC transfers followed vacancies created when some officeholders left to join NRM primary elections. He urged residents to support the new RDC in fulfilling her duties.
Kanyamahanye will now serve as RDC for Kitagwenda District.
