Rev. Mark Nabimanya, the South Ankole Diocesan Education Coordinator, urged students and administrators of Muntuyera High School Kitunga in Ntungamo District to draw closer to God amidst the school’s notable achievements, despite past setbacks. Speaking during an awards ceremony for outstanding students and teachers, Rev. Nabimanya, representing Bishop Nathan Ahibisibwe, commended the school’s administration and alumni for their dedication in restoring the school’s reputation.

He encouraged current students to strive for excellence in both academics and character development. Asaph Abenaitwe, the Assistant Commissioner in the Ministry of Education and Sports and the school’s Board Chairperson emphasized the importance of discipline for academic success. Abenaitwe highlighted the efforts of the alumni in addressing challenges faced by the school, including the recruitment of new staff and the establishment of effective governance structures.

Students were urged to stay focused, manage their time wisely, and contribute positively to the school’s legacy. Eng. Fred Kagwagye, Chairperson of the Old Boys Association, expressed gratitude for the increased enrollment and academic improvements achieved through collaborative efforts with stakeholders and the South Ankole Diocese.

Kagwagye mentioned plans for further developments, including the construction of a modern school gate and providing scholarships to academically talented students. Twine Joseph Muganga, the School Headteacher, credited the alumni for the increased enrollment and pledged to maintain academic excellence.

He highlighted the school’s achievements, including outstanding performances in national examinations and recognition from Archbishop Kazimba Mugalu for their dedication to educating young men. Notably, Mutuyera High School has contributed significantly to Uganda by nurturing prominent figures such as former Chief Justice Bart Katurebe and Principal Judge Borakamu Bamwine.
