Hundreds of Muslims gathered at the Rukungiri District Main Mosque today for Eid al-Fitr prayers, marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan. The celebrations were accompanied by messages encouraging believers to sustain the good deeds practiced during the fasting period.

Throughout Ramadan, Muslims observed fasting and engaged in acts of worship such as prayer, charity, and helping those in need. Religious leaders used the occasion to emphasize the importance of maintaining these values beyond the holy month.

The Rukungiri District Kadhi, Sheikh Abdul Maliki Byaruhanga Kayole, urged Muslims to remain steadfast in their faith and continue practicing the discipline and good behavior cultivated during Ramadan. He cautioned against abandoning these virtues after the fasting period, noting that doing so diminishes the spiritual benefits gained.

He also raised concern over the low participation of youth in religious activities, highlighting the need for stronger engagement. He said Muslim leaders are planning initiatives to mobilize young people and strengthen religious teachings among all believers.

Delivering a sermon as a guest speaker, Sheikh Abdulhamid Mulaba from Jinja called on Muslims to uphold three key principles: fearing Allah, promoting the growth of their faith, and fostering unity within their families.

Meanwhile, some faithful expressed gratitude for completing the month of fasting. They noted that Ramadan had strengthened their relationship with God and pledged to continue living by the values of righteousness and compassion cultivated during the period.
