Territorial police in Kanungu District have launched investigations into the suspected murder of a 45-year-old man, Kakiiza Rogers, whose body was discovered dumped in Rwenkywera stream under unclear circumstances.
According to police reports, the deceased, a resident of Nyakarambi cell, Nyakatooma parish in Kihanda Sub County, was found early Saturday morning by Rosette Habasa, who was heading to work. Habasa immediately notified the Gombolola Internal Security Officer (GISO) for Kihanda, Mr. Nyabugyingo Moses Barigye, who in turn alerted Kihanda Police Post.
Police responded promptly to the scene, where they found the lifeless body lying in the stream. Kihihi Police Station was also notified, and a team was dispatched to assist in the crime scene investigation.
According to ASP Elly Maate, the Kigezi Region Police Spokesperson, the scene was thoroughly documented and processed. A postmortem was conducted, and relevant witness statements have been recorded to aid the ongoing inquiry.
“We are committed to conducting a comprehensive investigation to establish the motive and bring those responsible to justice,” ASP Maate stated.
Police urge anyone with information that may assist in the investigation to come forward.
