Authorities in Rukungiri are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the brutal murder of a 53-year-old individual on the night of October 11-12, 2023, in Kateramo trading center, Kateramo cell, Kikongi Parish, Bwambara Sub-County, Rukungiri District.
The victim, identified as Kyomugisha Anita, a 53-year-old woman, appears to have been killed by her spouse, Tumworobere Amos, also known as Gift, for reasons that are still unknown.
The case was reported by Sabiti Innocent, a 53-year-old resident and the Secretary of Kateramo LC 1, who resides in Kateramo cell, Kikongi Parish, Bwambara Sub-County, Rukungiri District.
The couple had been living together peacefully since February 2023, with no prior conflicts reported by their neighbors.
It’s alleged that on the evening of October 11, 2023, the couple was seen together at their home until they went to bed. However, on the morning of October 12, 2023, at around 7:00 AM, their four-year-old child, Anderson, informed their neighbor, Kemigisha Shillah, that his mother was discovered dead in their bed.
Kemigisha Shillah’s husband, Twinamasiko Gift, entered the residence and confirmed that the deceased had sustained a neck injury. He then informed Sabiti Innocent, who subsequently reported the incident to Bikurungu Police Station.
A murder case was officially registered at Bikurungu Police Station, and the crime scene was thoroughly examined and documented by the police from Rukungiri CPS.
During the investigation, a sharp panga with potential bloodstains was recovered at the crime scene.
The victim’s body was transported to Rwakabengo Health Center III mortuary for a postmortem examination. As of now, the primary suspect, Tumworobere Amos, known as Gift, remains at large, and the investigation is ongoing.
