The Mufti of Uganda His Eminence Sheikh Shaban Ramadhani Mubajje has called upon the Muslim community in Rukungiri district to embrace new government programs like the parish development model which is aimed at poverty eradication.
He was on sunday speaking at the installation of the new Rukungiri district Muslim Kadhi Sheikh Abdulmalik Kayole Byaruhanga the function that took place at Rukungiri primary school.
Mubajje told the congregation that attended the function that the Muslim community is not against the government and they are focusing on cooperation and hard work to transform their communities by cooperating with the government in power.
He called upon Muslim communities to make use of their land at their mosques by setting up developmental projects which are income generating t in addition to thanking the president for supporting the Muslim community especially by providing transport means to over 20 district Khazi out of 78 Moslem districts in Uganda.
He added that the president has supported them in education improvement, especially in supporting Muslim schools, fighting AIDS, and cooperating with all religions under the umbrella of the inter-religious council of Uganda.
The president of Uganda Yoweri Kaguta Museveni who was represented by Maj Gen Jim Muhwezi the security minister thanked the Uganda Muslim supreme council for electing Muslim structures from the grassroots to the top and formulating their constitution which will guide Muslims in the whole country and ceasing the misunderstandings they have been facing.
Minister Muhwezi on behalf of the government pledged to cooperate with Muslims in Rukungiri in fulfilling their plans, especially setting up a storied commercial building, and starting up a secondary school among other projects which are aimed at the development of their religion in the district.
He delivered a brand-new car from president Museveni for the new district Kadhi to help him in executing his work.
The new Rukungiri district Muslim Kadhi Sheikh Abdulmalik Kayole Byaruhanga pledged to cooperate with all county sheiks, the Muslim community, district leadership, and president Museveni for the development of Rukungiri especially in full filling their planned developments.
