Police in Bushenyi District are currently investigating a tragic incident where a 30-year-old woman allegedly murdered her 3-year-old child and buried her in a pit.
The incident took place in Muzira 1 Village, Kabare Parish, Kakanju Sub-county, Bushenyi District. Marcial Tumusiime, the spokesperson for the Greater Bushenyi police, confirmed the incident and identified the suspect as Edinah Natumanya, aged 30 and a resident of the aforementioned address.
Reportedly, on the 12th of March 2024, around 8:00 PM, the suspect, who is the biological mother of the deceased, strangled her child and then proceeded to bury the body in a pit located within a banana plantation near their family home.
Tumusiime stated that following the incident, the suspect rushed to Kijumo Health Center II, where she contacted her husband, claiming she was very ill and needed to remove an implant. Her husband paid sh 5000/- for the procedure, and upon returning home, he began to inquire about the whereabouts of their child.
Subsequently, the suspect confessed to her husband, admitting that she had found their daughter strangled by a mosquito net and then buried her. Following her confession, she was brought to Ishaka Police Station as investigations into the matter continue.
