Police in Mitooma are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a 46-year-old man in a fatal accident.
The accident occurred on September 21, 2024, at around 8:40 AM in Mitooma town along the Kyangabukama Market road. It involved a red Bajaj motorcycle, registration number UEU 170A, ridden by Jackson Kaijuka, a resident of Kibingo, Mushuga, in Mitooma Sub-county, Mitooma District.
Marcial Tumusiime, the Greater Bushenyi Police spokesperson, confirmed the incident and identified the deceased as Godfrey Byamukama, 46, a resident of Ward Four in Mitooma town.
It is alleged that the victim had been dumping rubbish in the bush opposite Side View Guest House. As he was returning to the road from the forest, he was struck by the speeding motorcycle, which was heading from Kyangabukama to the market. Both the victim and the rider were rushed to Kampala International Teaching Hospital, where Byamukama was pronounced dead.
