Authorities at Bugangari Secondary School in Bugangari Sub County, Rukungiri District, received a donation of 434 iron sheets valued at over 20 million from the Minister of Security, who also serves as the Rujumbura County legislator. This donation followed the minister’s pledge made during the school’s fundraising ceremony on September 24, 2023.

The fundraising event aimed to gather funds for the renovation and rehabilitation of two dilapidated classroom blocks at Bugangari Secondary School. During the ceremony, the minister committed to providing all the necessary cement and iron sheets for the renovation, a promise he has fulfilled, with the renovation now underway.

Isaac Niwamanya Kaharuza, the political assistant to Minister Jim Muhwezi, delivered the pledged iron sheets to the school authorities. He urged them to use the materials for their intended purpose to create a conducive learning environment for students in the next term.

Mr. Tembo Tiragana, the head teacher of Bugangari Secondary School, expressed gratitude to Minister Jim Muhwezi for promptly fulfilling his pledge. However, he highlighted the ongoing challenge of inadequate staff, with only 10 out of the required 31 government teachers on the school’s payroll. Tiragana also appealed for government assistance in constructing a modern computer laboratory and library to enhance the school’s educational standards.

Dan Ahimbisibwe, the coordinator of Hon Jim Muhwezi in Bugangari Sub County, emphasized the minister’s continued support for the education sector in the sub county. He mentioned contributions towards the renovation and rehabilitation of both primary and secondary schools, including the construction of Kyaburere Primary School.

Ahimbisibwe stressed the need to focus on initiatives that enhance service delivery in the constituency, a commitment the area legislator has undertaken. The iron sheets were officially received by the PTA chairperson, Bugangari Sub County chairperson Justin Byamukama, and other local leaders.
