The minister of security Maj Gen Jim Muhwezi Katugugu has attributed the delayed electricity connection in areas that received poles to a poor plan that was set by the former Rujumbura County Member of Parliament Hon Fred Turyamuhweza.
He made these remarks on Sunday at the fundraising function of Bugangari Secondary School to renovate and rennovate the school in Bugangari sub-county Rukungiri district.
Minister Muhwezi said the former Member of Parliament rushed to put electricity poles in different sub-counties in Rujumbura County for political reasons without following the right procedures which has delayed the connection.
He assured the people of Bujumbura whose areas have electric poles with no electricity that all the efforts are being made to help them to have electricity.
The Bwambara sub-county chairperson Chris Kagayano said some people had started questioning them about the delayed electricity connection. He asked people to take heart since the minister is following up on the matter.
Kagayano said that getting electricity will help them set up more factories in place which will develop their area like rice factories, Coffee, and the industrial park that is set to be constructed in their area.
