In an effort to enhance practical skills among the youth in Kanungu District, the Minister for ICT and National Guidance and Member of Parliament for Kinkizi East, Hon. Dr. Chris Baryomunsi, generously donated four sewing machines yesterday to support youth training in Kihanda Sub County.

Hon. Chris presented the sewing machines at Kihanda Primary School, Kihanda Sub County, during the launch of the NRM Nyekundiire groups in Kinkizi East.

Initially, he provided the sewing machines and pledged to offer additional materials to assist the youth in acquiring skills such as hairdressing, tailoring, baking, and weaving, among others.

He emphasized that the initiative aims to support the livelihoods of young people and women by equipping them with practical skills and enabling them to become self-employed.

Furthermore, he encouraged young people to enroll in vocational skills training at his foundation for development, urging them to steer clear of risky behaviors that could lead to early marriage and teenage pregnancy.

Baryomunsi also donated two beds to Kihanda Health Center II, aiming to aid patients in need of assistance from the center.

He invited individuals to join and acquire practical skills, particularly those in need, as all services are provided free of charge.

Some of the recipients of the sewing machines expressed their gratitude to the minister and assured him that they would utilize them effectively for their benefit.

They explained that they had always aspired to learn tailoring and other practical skills but lacked the financial means to enroll in technical institutions. They revealed that they are grateful for the opportunity to acquire skills at no cost through Hon. Baryomunsi’s initiative.
