Police in Rukungiri are investigating a fire outbreak last evening that  razed to ashes students’ properties worth millions of shillings  at Kyamakanda secondary school

Elly Maate the Kigezi region Police spokesman says that, on 17/02/2023 at about 20:33hrs , DPC Rukungiri received information about a fire outbreak at Kyamakanda secondary school Buyanja Town Council Rukungiri district,

The DPC together with the District CID, Fire and rescue, Scene of Crime officers and party responded and the fire was eventually put off by the Fire and rescue service team  

Which saved a whole dormitory whole block from burning.

The affected block housed  Moon dormitory which accommodates 54 male students drawn from different classes, and fire started when all the students were in class  for preps.

After receiving information about the outbreak, 16 Female students collapsed and were rushed to Nyakyibare hospital, Rugarama and Buyanja Health centers for medical attention, police checked on them and were informed by medical personnel that they were in good condition.

The cause of the fire outbreak is not yet established and the scene has been preserved and guarded by police pending reconstruction early  by District CID, Soco, Fire and Umeme.

Inquiries continue.
