Tumwesigye urged parents to consistently encourage and guide their children to stay in school, as this enables the government to identify and support talented individuals for their future development. He also announced that all pupils who participate in the Uganda Primary School Ball Games will receive certificates from the Mbarara District Local Government, which can be added to their CVs when applying to higher learning institutions.
District Education Officer Muhwezi Deo assured parents that the twenty-eight pupils, accompanied by five teachers, are safe and well-protected throughout the competition. He emphasized that, in addition to developing their talents, the pupils will also have the opportunity to tour Eastern Uganda and cross the River Nile during the event.
Mbarara District Sports Officer Asiimire Francis stated that the Uganda Primary School Ball Games Championship is scheduled to take place in Soroti City from August 25 to September 5, 2024. He explained that the participants will compete in boys’ football from Rubindi Boys Primary School in Rubindi, girls’ netball from Rwentanga Primary School in Bubaare, and boys’ volleyball from Rubingo 1 Primary School in Bukiro.
