For the second time, the Mbarara Chief Magistrate Court presided over by His Worship Andrew Kabombo has postponed the mention of the murder case against four individuals suspected of killing Mbabazi Kelleti. The delay is due to the ongoing compilation of evidence.
The suspects include Owakubariho Stephen, a lecturer at Metropolitan University Mbarara Branch; Mwesigye Gloria, the university’s bursar; Tumwesigye Ronald, a casual laborer for Mwesigye Gloria; and Narweyiso Proscovia, also known as Aisha, a neighbor of the co-accused.
Mbabazi Kelleti, aged 25, hailed from Kanyanku Cell, Kitimba Ward, Western Division, Rukungiri Municipality, and was a student at Bishop Stuart University Mbarara.
Among the suspects, Narweyiso Proscovia, also known as Aisha, is the wife of Musitafa Iga, commonly known as Tuudi, resident of Rwakabengo Ward, Southern Division, Rukungiri Municipality, and currently employed as the bursar at Metropolitan University Mbarara Branch.
According to the prosecution, on March 1, 2024, while in Biharwe Mbarara City, the suspects allegedly assaulted Kelleti, causing fatal injuries to his head and feet. Kelleti’s body was found the next day in a compound in Biharwe Mbarara City.
It’s alleged that Kelleti had traveled with a colleague named Amwine Jabel from the University Campus in Kakoba for unknown reasons. However, Jabel returned alone, and Kelleti was discovered dead the following morning. Jabel was arrested and later released on bond.
His Worship Andrew Kabombo stated that evidence compilation is still ongoing and postponed the mention of the case to June 12, 2024.
