Rukungiri district on Wednesday launched yellow fever mass vaccination campaign, targeting people aged between 9months to 60 years in a function that took place at Rukungiri district council hall.
According to the Ministry of Health, the 5-day yellow fever vaccination campaign is expected to run from 9th to 13th June 2023.
The Rukungiri resident district commissioner Steven Nsubunga Bewayo while officiating at the launch called upon the public to embrace the campaign, saying that the vaccines are safe for the health of humans.
He called upon local leaders to mobilize so that the yellow fever mass vaccination campaign can be successful.
Dr. Sellah Aisha, an official from the Ministry of Health said they will vaccinate all people from 9 months to 60 years.
She asked pregnant mothers not to vaccinate because of health issues.
Dr. Sellah Aisha added that some people who are doing vaccination exercises will also visit schools so that students can also get a chance of getting vaccinations without any interruption.
Dr. Aisha says this vaccination is for only one time so people should desist from getting double vaccination, especially school children.
