Over 100 couples from Kanyanga Church of Uganda Parish have received guidance on building strong and sustainable families during a one-day marriage workshop held at Kings Hotel, Kyamakanda Parish in Buyanja Sub County, Rukungiri District.
The workshop, held on Saturday 5th July 2025, was facilitated by retired clergy and Christian leaders with a focus on instilling values that promote long-lasting relationships. Retired Rev Canon Justus Kamuhangire from North Kigezi Diocese urged those preparing for marriage to avoid choosing partners based on physical beauty or family wealth, warning that such criteria often lead to disappointment and family breakups.
Meanwhile, Rev Winnie Rukundo Namweta from South Ankole Diocese, who addressed a session for widows, emphasized the importance of personal hygiene as a foundation for godly living and a welcoming family environment.
The host priest, Rev Arthur Tuhirirwe, commended the success of the event, stating it was aimed at equipping Christians with moral values to ensure family stability. The organizer, Ms Winnie Nahurira, also appreciated the positive feedback, noting that the testimonies shared reflect a growing commitment to unity and mutual respect among couples.
Elder Gershom Katabazi lauded the initiative for renewing couples’ commitment to care and parental responsibilities, describing the experience as refreshing and impactful for family life.
