Two supporters of Frank Rukanirwa are nursing serious injuries at Mega Trust Medical Laboratory in Rukungiri Town following a violent confrontation with security guards attached to the incumbent Member of Parliament for Rujumbura County, Maj. Gen. Jim Muhwezi.
The incident occurred in Bugangari Sub-county as campaigns intensified ahead of the 2026 general elections. The clash erupted when supporters of Frank Rukanirwa, who were peacefully rallying through a narrow road, encountered a convoy belonging to Maj. Gen. Muhwezi.
Nicholas Iradukunda, a resident of Bwambara who is now hospitalized, narrated his ordeal in deep pain.

He expressed disappointment that despite not provoking or resisting, they were still attacked.
Another victim, Musiima Yacobo, commonly known as “German,” also sustained serious injuries and is receiving treatment at the same facility.

Speaking to our reporter, Dr. Joab Abaasa of Mega Trust Medical Laboratory confirmed that both patients sustained serious injuries, with one of them undergoing eye surgery due to excessive bleeding.

The incident has raised serious concerns over rising political violence as the country heads into a heated electoral season. The victims, their families, and supporters are now calling on electoral authorities and security agencies to ensure the safety and freedom of all Ugandans during the campaign period.
As of the time of this report, police at Rukungiri Central Police Station had not yet issued any statement regarding the incident.
