Police in Bushenyi District are investigating circumstances under which a 35-year-old man was killed by a mob on allegations of stealing a pig.

According to Andrew Ninyesiga 57 a resident of Kibingo village in NKanga sub-county Bushenyi district who reported the case to police, the mob attacked the deceased shortly after stealing the pig.

Marcial Tumusiime the greater Bushenyi police spokesperson said the incident happened on Saturday at Karongo village, Nyamirembe parish, NKanga sub-county Bushenyi district.

He further identified the deceased as Pison Turyagumanawe 35 years a resident of the same address.

 It’s alleged that on a fateful day at around 11:30 pm, the deceased stole a white pig from one Komunda and he was arrested after he had already slaughtered it.

He said after the arrest the deceased was taken to the home of Komunda and was beaten by an angry mob w

 He was then allowed to go but died on the way and according to information, the deceased is alleged to be a habitual cattle thief.

Tumusiime said that the body of deceased has been taken to Kampala International Teaching Hospital teaching pending postmortem as inquiries are ongoing.
