The territorial police in Kanungu District are investigating the circumstances under which a 42-year-old man, Frank Tusingwire, allegedly committed suicide following a domestic altercation.
The tragic incident occurred during the night of April 25, 2025, at Nyamutundane Cell, Kashojwa Parish, Rugyeyo Sub-county in Kanungu District. According to police reports, Tusingwire had a fight with his wife, Twikirize Constance, prompting her to flee to her parents’ home along with their young children.
When Twikirize returned to their home the following day, April 26, 2025, she found her husband hanging from a rope in the visitor’s room. Authorities were notified immediately.
Police from Rugyeyo Police Post visited the scene, recovered the rope used in the suicide, and conducted a postmortem examination at the scene before handing the body over to the deceased’s relatives for a decent burial.
ASP Maate Elly, the Kigezi Region Police Spokesperson, confirmed the incident and said investigations are ongoing.
