Police in Bushenyi District have arrested a twenty-seven-year-old man on allegations of defiling a seven-year-old juvenile.
The incident happened on 07/12/2024 at about 1:00 PM in Ishaka town in Bushenyi Ishaka Municipality.
Marcial Tumusiime, the Greater Bushenyi Police spokesperson, confirmed the incident and identified the suspect as Alex Byaruhanga, 27, a casual laborer and a resident of Ishaka town in Bushenyi District.
Tumusiime further identified the victim as a seven-year-old resident of Cell A Ishaka Division in Bushenyi Ishaka Municipality.
It is alleged that on 07/12/2024, the grandmother of the victim, identified as Maama Sharifa, found the suspect with the victim in her kitchen. She asked him what he was doing with her, but he denied having been doing anything.
However, after three days, she realized that the victim’s movement had changed. She became concerned and asked the victim questions, followed by checking her physically. She realized that pus was coming out of her vagina.
John Bosco Tumusiime, 39, a casual laborer and a resident of Kizinda Town Council in Bushenyi District, who reported the case to the police, said that upon inquiry from the victim, she informed them that she was defiled by the suspect in question after he promised to give her grasshoppers.
