The Bushenyi District Public Accounts Committee, chaired by Muhammad Kamadi, has recommended the termination of a Shs3.5 billion contract awarded to KHALSA Development Uganda Ltd for the construction of Kanyamurera Seed School. The contract was awarded in 2022.

According to Kamadi, the recommendation is based on the contractor’s failure to complete the project on schedule. Committee member Johnson Nagasha highlighted the lack of sufficient staff at the construction site and noted that significant manpower is required to meet the February deadline for the school’s opening.

When contacted, Robart Ayikko, the General Manager of KHALSA Development Uganda Ltd, stated that the company is working around the clock to ensure the project is handed over on time.

The contract, originally set to be completed by August 2024, was extended to February 2025. However, the committee has evaluated the progress of the work at only 50% completion.
