As one way of improving the road network in Nyarushanje sub-county Rukungiri district, residents have purchased 48 culverts worth 7.2 million to work on their poor roads.
The culverts were handed over to the Rukungiri district leaders led by Hon Mathias Mwesigwa Rwabungumi the Nyarushanje sub-county district councilor on behalf of the team to work on 8 bridges and the balance will purchase construction materials for their proper installation at all bridges.
The roads to be worked on include Omukyiyenje –Ikona road that connects Burora, Bwanga, Ihunga, and Bunono parishes all in Nyarushanje sub-county.
He added that some farmers and motorists would find it difficult to do their daily work on these roads in terms of transport due to poor road connectivity, especially on waterways and other bridges.
Geoffrey Kyomukama the Rukungiri district chairperson hailed the team led by Rwabugumi and friends for the good work they are doing towards the development of their area hence tasking the district engineer to ensure proper installation of the culverts to do the intended purpose.
The Rukungiri Resident District Commissioner thanked the initiators of this idea which is working to develop their area.
Nsubuga asked the District Engineer to put the donated culverts to proper use which will motivate more residents to give more support whenever it is needed.
The RDC further elaborated that what Rwabugumi and the team are doing shows Patriotism that President Museveni has been preaching about.
The District Engineer, Julius Bagira after receiving the donated items, assured the district team and concerned residents who donated, that their work will be done properly as they expect.
