Authorities in the eastern division of Rukungiri Municipality have expressed concerns regarding the misuse of stamps by LC 1 chairpersons, impacting security in the division. During the recent division council sitting at the division headquarters, Division Chairperson David Tumwesigye disclosed that the improper use of office stamps by LC 1 chairpersons has resulted in numerous cases of forged stamps in Kamuri cell, Rwentondo ward.

Tumwesigye further revealed that a stamp was unexpectedly lost in Kafunjo cell, Rwentondo ward, Eastern Division, Rukungiri Municipality. Councilor Vanansio Bambangira, a resident of Kafunjo cell representing Rwentondo ward, addressed the council, highlighting the difficulties faced by Kafunjo residents in accessing services requiring the LC1 stamp. Bambangira urged authorities to take necessary actions to address the issue.

Responding to the concerns, Acting Assistant Town Clerk Jong Twabs Vincent reported that despite advising Kafunjo LC 1 chairperson to submit a letter regarding the lost stamp, they have not yet received any communication. Vincent added that the forged stamp discovered in Kamuri cell is now in the possession of the police, and the suspect has reportedly fled the village.

To address the situation, the council decided to divide Rwentondo ward into two parts, relocating three cells (Kafunjo, Karucumisi, and the Police) from the Kyatoko ward to the Northern B ward. Additionally, the council mandated residents to submit a construction plan before undertaking any building activities.
