Esther Majambere Musoke Kanyaruharo, a lawyer from Kyeshero sub-county in Kinkiizi West, has generously rewarded 531 Primary Seven candidates in Kanungu district who achieved Division One in the 2023 Primary Leaving Examinations. The reward comes in the form of mattresses, aimed at congratulating and motivating the students as they progress to the next level of education.
During the giveaway launch held at Kanungu district playground, Esther Majambere commended parents for their dedication to supporting their children’s education, as well as the resilience of teachers who continue to educate despite facing numerous challenges in their schools.
In addition to the 531 mattresses given to top-performing candidates, 29 mattresses will also be distributed to students who scored 13 aggregates, as well as candidates with disabilities who showed commendable effort despite not achieving Division One. Majambere emphasized the importance of education as the key to success and expressed her commitment to supporting the education sector in Kanungu district, particularly considering its remote location.
She highlighted how rewarding outstanding candidates fosters healthy competition among schools in the district, ultimately enhancing the quality of education. Majambere emphasized that these mattresses serve as a tangible incentive for students to strive for excellence while also alleviating some of the financial burdens on parents as their children transition to secondary school.
Parents and students who received the mattresses expressed their gratitude towards Esther Majambere for her generosity, especially considering the financial constraints many families face in meeting their children’s educational needs.
Godfrey Karabenda, the Mayor of Kanungu Town Council, appreciated the timely support provided to parents, particularly during the challenging period of ensuring their children’s access to education.
Representatives of the district, including Hon. Lukia Mbabazi and Rodgers Tumwesigye, both Kihihi Town Council district councilors, urged parents not to sell the mattresses provided to their children, emphasizing the importance of these gifts in supporting their education. They also noted the inclusivity of the initiative, which considered candidates from both private and government primary schools across the 27 sub-counties and town councils in Kanungu district.
Esther Majambere Musoke Kanyaruharo’s philanthropic gesture is a testament to her commitment to education, and if her aspirations align, she may vie for the Kanungu District Woman Parliamentary seat in 2026.
