Kyezimbire Health Center II, located in Isingiro District within the Ankole Sub-region, lacks adequate health facilities to manage under-five malnutrition.

Raymond Mujuni, the in-charge at Kyezimbire Health Center II, says that due to the high number of malnourished children visiting the facility, they have resorted to training lead mothers and fathers. These trained individuals then teach other parents how to provide a balanced diet for their children as part of efforts to combat malnutrition.
Dalton Babukiika, a senior nutritionist in Isingiro District, emphasizes that vegetables are critical in fighting malnutrition. These foods are rich in essential micronutrients like iron and are relatively easy to grow, yet they often go underutilized.
He further explains that children with uncomplicated severe malnutrition, when referred alongside other illnesses, require specialized care available at Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital.
Catherine Ntabadde, a UNICEF Communication Specialist, notes that while Isingiro District is abundant in food, many families face challenges because they do not always prioritize proper feeding for their children.
